About me: Favourite Games
Some of my favorite games (you know how hard it is to create a selection...)
A genre mix that works so well. A strategy game that makes you really
care about every single soldier (emotionally). And a beautiful art style.
Simple rules, but there's years of amazing fun emerging from them, when
played with 3 friends! Excellent use of tension and release with the pre-shot animations when you pray that you won't be tackled before you get to fire off that shot. Only recently has my group of friends moved on to Towerfall and Rocket League.
Love how they took the match-3 mechanics and turned them into a deep fighting system (or: a system for pretty much anything in the game).
Great story and characters, a classic! Cool death mechanic.
For me the beauty of UT2k4 lay in its movement, making me feel like a parkour runner many years before Titanfall. It also introduced me to the unparalleled joy of true (online) teamplay. "Onslaught" was such a blast to play, taking that movement aspect and extending it with amazing vehicles.
- Battlefield 4
I love this game for the many, many diverse and unique player stories it generates every match. It also offers very rewarding teamplay and has cool vehicles. I know no other game that offers the same experience.
- Dark Souls
Fantastic level design, great backstory-telling (e.g. through item descriptions or what kind of items a merchant actually sells), engaging melee combat and an incredible sense of place; love it!
My new favourite local multiplayer game; incredibly polished, it creates fantastic player stories by having quite interactive systems, yet it's still very easy to get into.
- Dishonored 2. loved it, art direction is through the roof and abilities are a lot of fun, great level design, too.
- The Talos Principle. Cool philosophic musings meets an elegant solution to one of linear puzzle games' biggest issues: getting stuck.
- The Witcher 3
- Dark Souls 3 ( almost finished )
Might play next:
- Divinity: Original Sin
- Darkest Dungeon
Want to check out, you know, "sometime":
- Dwarf Fortress
